Characters and Analysis Romeo At first Romeo is characterized by his self-indulgent melancholy, characteristics which would have signaled a romantic quality as well as a tragic flaw for Elizabethan audiences. Romeo, as a result of not receiving the letter, is led to believe that Juliet is dead, thus leaving him determined to take his own life too. She is found later by her nurse who alerts everyone that she is dead. Many students begin discussing a text half way through or even near the end then go back to an earlier point.
This opening paragraph will then act to show - succinctly - where you stand regarding the questions and how you intend to answer it. Tybalt, the chief antagonist, hearing his voice, recognizes him and is enraged that a Montague should dare attend a Capulet feast.
